Friendly Sites

Liu Bin's Page - My friend Bin's blog

Robots - My Dad's website of electronic and robotic projects

NinjaHacker - Good video game hacking forum. This site is down forever.  Read about it here.

Free Stuff Crazy - Get some free stuff from a site ran by someone in that was in my CS 152 class!

Programming

SIGGRAPH advanced rendering with OpenGL. I got a lot of useful information from this site when I first started using OpenGL.

NeHe's OpenGL Tutorials. This site explains the basic of OpenGL to anyone who knows C or C++.

Pierre Terdiman has some intersting programming projects on his site, especially ONI Breaker and Flexine.

Win32 Programming in Assembly Language - I found this site very useful.

Nice or Interesting software

Nvu - Used to make this webpage!

OpenOffice - A very nice open-source office suite. I prefer to use this instead of Microsoft Office.

VIM - Open-source text editor based off of VI. VI was an old unix text editor. VIM's main competitor is Emacs. I prefer VIM to Emacs.

GLIDOS - This program gives DOS 3dfx glide programs (such as Tomb Raider 1 or Descent 2) access to OpenGL rendering in Windows.

GIMP - Open-source image editor. Almost as good as Photoshop.

Red Hat Linux - Open-source unix-based operating system.  Kind of dead, but now there's Fedora Core. (Don't like that? There's plenty of other distributions.)

Playstation 2 Linux -  My favorite OS ported to my favorite video games console.

Winamp - Free media player. The new version 5 does a good job at supporting both version 2 and 3 plugins and skins.

XMMS Music player for linux that can use Winamp skins.

Tex Text formatting system.

Ghostscript View postscript files, pdf files, and make pdf files with this program. Install a postscript printer driver (such as Apple Color Laserwriter PS), and print to a file. Open the PS file in ghostscript and convert to pdf! Other stuff you can do with postscript files: You can open a PS file into a vector graphics program (such as Corel Draw), and edit them. Most programs keep text as text when they print (and send the fonts to the printer), so you can edit the font, size and text of the print output of any program! Change colors, move images around, crop out pieces of the page, just about anything.
